Matsushima Challenge Our Invitation To You Tournament Details Rules Divisions Entry Forms Map and Directions Cliquez ici pour tous les détails du Championnat Matsushima 2008 en français   Matsushima Challenge - Letter Of Invitation Dear Shihan, Sensei, Sempai, I would like to extend an invitation to you and your dojo to attend the 2008 edition of the Matsushima Challenge Juniors Kyokushin Karate Tournament which will be held on Saturday, May 17th.  Every year since our inaugural edition in 2001, our tournament has been a tremendous success and has always featured a high level of competition from many dojos of varying styles and branches of Kyokushin karate.  Schools from Vancouver, Winnipeg, Moncton, the Nunavut Territories, Aruba(!), the United States and all over Quebec including dojos from the World Kanreikai organization have attended our tournament in recent years.  We have hosted as many as 260 competitors from 15 different dojos.  It has also been our great honour in past years to have Kancho Matsushima (9th Dan) and his wife Mikiko-san make the long trip from Japan to attend the Matsushima Challenge. This tournament is open to ALL karate schools regardless of affiliation or style and is an excellent opportunity for junior students to showcase and test their skills in a competitive environment.  In attendance will be the North American Chairman of the IKO Matsushima, Shihan Roman Szyrajew (7th Dan).  Last year's edition of the Matsushima Challenge demonstrated tremendous spirit and cooperation between all competing schools, making the event very memorable for our participants and spectators.
