Prizes: |
Trophies will be presented to the top 3 places in each division of kata and kumite. All participants in the kata competitions will receive medals regardless of placing. A trophy will be represented to the dojo with the most participants. There are also trophies for the top 3 dojos with the most points accumulated by their participants. |

Equipment: |
Standard sparring helmet, lightweight gloves (covering the hand and forefist but not the forearm), shin instep pads. Sports cup for males and mouth guards are required. Chest protectors will be provided and are mandatory for all competitors 12 and under. Some forms of safety gear may not be permitted if it is deemed dangerous for competitors. Please check with the organizer if you have any questions about the equipment. |

Referees: |
Judges and referees will be chosen from all participating dojos that have Shodans or higher who are available to do so. We will try to have a fair and even representation from all dojos regardless of affiliation or style. Priority will be given to those of higher rank and/or greater experience. |

A limited block of 20 rooms has been reserved for May 16-17 at a special group rate for the Matsushima Challenge. Suites (which accomodate up to 5 people) are available for $145/night while regular rooms with 2 double beds are $125/night. Please reserve your room as quickly as possible as it is a busy long weekend and we are expecting many out of town competitors! |
