West Island Karate

You will find almost everything you need to know about West Island Karate by browsing our website.  Here are some quick facts to get you started:

  • At West Island Karate, we teach a world-renowned style of karate known as Kyokushin.

  • Our dojo (training hall) in Beaconsfield was founded in 1997 and remains one of the few in the West Island of Montreal to operate full time.  In other words, West Island Karate is Sensei John's one and only business endeavour.  This allows us to maintain the very highest quality of instruction and level of commitment to our students...and our students (as well as their parents) certainly appreciate Sensei's dedication.

  • We are one of the only karate schools in the West Island to offer a wide range of children's classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced students.  This allows our kids to train at the appropriate level and advance accordingly.

  • We of course also teach adults.  We accomodate your busy schedule (and that of your family's) by offering an early-bird class at 7 a.m. in addition to our 9 a.m. and evening classes.

  • All classes are taught by the same instructors, allowing them to familiarize themselves with each student and his or her own unique abilities.

  • West Island Karate has a reputation for excellence.  We have produced nationally and internationally ranked students, including the top Canadian male (top 16 world ranking) at the Kyokushin World Championships in Japan.

So whether you are looking for a character building activity for your child, a chance for them to compete, lessons in self-defense, or just a way to get into and stay in shape, West Island Karate has something to offer all age groups and levels.

We look forward to meeting you.
